Support Scouting

Invest in Scouting

The Boy Scouts of America is the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. In the future, Scouting will continue to offer young people responsible fun and adventure, instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law, and train young people in citizenship, service and leadership. There are numerous ways to invest in Scouting. Investments that can benefit youth today, as well as into the future.

Friends of Scouting

Each year parents of Scouts and community members in the Gulf Ridge Council are asked to contribute to the annual Friends of Scouting campaign. This campaign is an essential component of the funding efforts for our Council, raising over 21% of the council’s annual income.

Council Endowment Programs

The endowment fund is one of the best ways to ensure our council continues to offer the outstanding program it now has and also grow to meet the needs of the youth and communities that we serve. Gifts are made to the endowment fund by a donor through a charitable contribution above and beyond an annual FOS contribution. Many donors give to the endowment fund through a bequest, planned gift arrangement, or one of the Heritage Society programs. Only the interest off the endowment is used by the council. The principal is never touched; therefore, an individual’s gift to endowment is permanent.

Memorials

Memorials create a lasting memory that makes a difference in the lives of thousands of young people around greater Tampa Bay.

State of Florida Specialty License Plate

A simple and visible way to support Scouting is through the purchase of a Florida speciality license plate. When you renew your registration at your local tax collector’s office, simply let them know you wish to replace your current license plate with a Scouting specialty license plate. If it is not time in your license plate’s cycle to replace the metal license plate, you will pay a few additional dollars to switch to a specialty license plate, so the best time to switch is when you’re going to have to replace your metal license plate (every ten years). Specialty license plates cost a set fee (annually) above the cost of a standard Florida license plate, and the fees vary based on the type of license plate. These additional funds go to support the cause for which the specialty license plate was designed. For a list of county tag offices, click here. Join the 400 drivers in the Gulf Ridge Council who have purchased a specialty plate and show your support of Scouting.
